Jesus is Passing Through!

He entered Jericho and was passing through. And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich. And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small in stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way.

And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all grumbled, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.”

And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19: 1-10). ESV

Life is fluid, it’s always moving. At times it seems to slow down we observe seasons change not just in nature but in our lives. We are quite simply on our way.

It may seem that the destination is arbitrary and random with no real purpose in regards to location. We know better than that don’t we? Skeptics accuse of us forcing patterns where there are none. Seeking cohesiveness in a world that they believe is nothing more that accidental and coincidental.

The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. (Psalm 37:23). NLT

Does that sound haphazard and random to you?

The Lord always has a plan, for every season of our lives!  He is passing through!

The late Dallas Seminary Professor Howard Hendricks used to tell the story of a young man who strayed from the Lord but was finally brought back by the help of a friend.

The young man said that it felt like he was out at sea, in deep water, deep trouble, and all his friends were on the shoreline hurling biblical accusations at him about justice, penalty, and wrong

“But there was one Christian Brother who actually swam out to get me and would not let me go.  I fought him, but he pushed aside my fighting, grasped me, put a life jacket around me, and took me to shore.  By the grace of God, he was the reason I was restored.  He would not let me go.”

Our Lord Jesus is the seeking savior, He is passing through, He is near, He is wanting, for you to respond to Him!

He does not remain on the shore when He sees us in peril. He is active, He is faithful and He is here.

We sometimes think that life is more fulfilling away from him, and for a season we may wander away from Him, He however is fully aware that life without Him is simply not satisfying in the deepest regions of our hearts.

Am I writing  to someone today, who has wandered away, spiritually your dry, and sometimes you wonder just how near the Lord really is?

One speaker said: Sometimes we get sandwiched between the difficulties we cause, and that others cause us.

In the midst of poor life choices and the resulting circumstances there is Jesus who is passing through!  Available, near, and able to …in a moment to change our lives!

Has He changed yours?
