When we have to say Au revoir
Au revoir- Used to express farewell.[French : au, till the + revoir, seeing again.
Christians never say goodbye for the final time! In fact our English word goodbye, is inadequate to convey the hope believers in the Lord Jesus Christ have for seeing loved ones again.
That is why the French word Au revoir (Until we meet again) gets much closer to what Christians (Will one day experience) when a loved one , for a time...says Au revoir.
Unless a miracle that I and countless others have prayed for occurs, we will say a teary (Sometime in the near future) Au revoir, to a gift from God named Michelle. She is a 39 year old (Daughter,Sister, Aunt, Friend, Co-worker) who is also one of the most precious people I (We) have ever known!
In just three short months she has gone from a healthy professional, enjoying life, in Boulder County Colorado as an HR specialist, to struggling with a brain disease (Creuztfeldt-Jakob Disease) that is incurable.
"Shell" is without question one of the wittiest, funniest, and most loving of human beings that has ever drawn a breath!
She has also been an encourager to me and to so many others...that if I (We) recalled all that she means to us here, ...blogspot- would cancel my blog...and accuse me of trying to match the novel "War and Peace" in length!
Friday nights were "Our Nights" and my wife (Laura) and Shell and I...laughed, loved and lived out the deepest of friendships in and around Northern Colorado!
What now, what will Friday nights be like, should God not answer our fervent prayers for physical healing?
Hard! Lonely! Sad!
All that is true, but I have found a reservoir of deep and abiding comfort in God's Word, especially in the book of 2 Corinthians.
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
17For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4: 16-18).
THINK:
Of stepping on shore
And finding it Heaven!
Of taking hold of a hand
And finding it God's Hand!
Of breathing a new air
And finding it celestial air!
Of feeling invigorated
And finding it immortality!
Of passing from storm and tempest
To an unbroken calm;
Of waking up and finding
Yourself HOME!-Robert E. Selle
Dr. Stephen Olford once said that "Ultimate healing, is when God takes you home".
Should that be the Father's will for "Our Shell" through tears, and a broken heart, I am determined (we must determine) to keep our eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ and rest in His assurance that believers in Him...never say a final goodbye, but rather Au revoir... until we meet again!
This beautiful song reminds me of my wonderful Sister, Shell...
Pastor lawrence and I are praying for the healing of your sister and the strength and Love for your family. . i leave youwith this beautiful divine guidance that was given to us.
ReplyDeleteAlthough things are not perfect
Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Donot begin to blame
Even when times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His love
Joy would cease to be
Keep thnking him for all the things
Love imparts to thee
move out of "Camp Complaining"
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future
Redeem the time at hand
Start everyday with worship
To"thank" is a command
Until we see Him coming
Victorious in the sky
We'll run the race with gratitude
Xalting God most high
Yes, there'll be good times and yes some will be bad, but
Zion waits in glory... where none are ever sad!!
