Iron Sharpens Iron!

       As a Pastor there are many demands and expectations, on my life.  Days slip by and there is always more to do. A  typical week...haven't had one yet:)

 When I look back at the more than 20 years of serving as a Pastor I have so much to be thankful for.  There is nothing like being a part of a viable movement of God in a community of believers!  People being Saved, people growing closer to the Lord...it is truly a " Wonderful Life".

I feel the need to write about a particular ministry that I am watching grow, develop, transition and effect many lives right now. 

The men's ministry at HillTop Baptist Church in a word is ..."Thriving"!

We have met weekly for the past year, did not break for summer, endured a Wyoming winter...frequently are eating exceedingly spicy cheese ca so.... experienced the ebb and flow of fellow men, leading their families, growing in the Lord, and being impacted by the Lord, in so many distinct areas of our lives. 

These guys are awesome! They have in the last year studied the following books in depth, week by week.

              Point Man- By Steve Farrar
              Becoming a Man of God- By Pastor Jack Graham
              Crazy Love- By Pastor Francis Chan

We have just launched a six week study with former Washington Redskins head football coach Joe Gibbs called "Game Plan for Life".  This past Monday night over 20 men...and some young men were in attendance!

What has been surprising to me...is our men's group started last Fall, and was  built around "Monday Night Football" now....our guys would rather pray, study and offer their Monday Nights for the Lord's instructions!

Oh sure we still catch the second half...but honestly....our guys choose Jesus over Al Michael's every time....all the time!

In Honor of Peter Marshall.

In Memory of a Man who was after God's own heart. As a younger minister my heart warmed to His preaching, (From recorded sermons) the soaring diction, the impassioned eloquent proclamation of truth, through a life consumed by Christ! As a middle aged Pastor now, the memory of this incomparable Preacher continues to inspire! I am so looking forward to meeting Dr. Marshall in heaven! How are things at home?

              A year ago today, hearts were breaking, tears were flowing and pain left us nearly breathless.   A year ago we said a teary temporary (Thank God) farewell (Christians, never say goodbye, for the final time) to Michelle Robin Hensley , my sister, my dear friend.  The 12 months that we have walked and sometimes stumbled through, have been difficult.   The Lord has, as He promised, bore our burdens, comforted  hearts....and dried tears.   Oh they still come , often, I think they always will .  There is so much we miss , about you, so much we want to share with you .  I know that in some way you know what we are doing.... maybe in more detail than we can imagine. I still have a lump in my throat from time to time ....and missing you is a pale way to describe the ache.... but I know you are with the Lord ....and I am comforted .
