Are there Angels in the Denver Bronco’s Backfield?

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success! - Henry Ford
The recent success of the Denver Broncos has become a national sensation.  Come back victories last second heroics, heart  stopping finishes and a humble Christ honoring quarterback, Tim Tebow.... have made these winter months, warmer for me, and for millions who are enjoying the ride!

Last night the game against the Chicago Bears for all stated purposes was over…it wasn’t!

A veteran Chicago running back ran out of bounds, (That kind of mistake almost never happens at this level) giving the Broncos precious time to mount a comeback.  That same running back, in overtime inexplicably fumbled, on the way for perhaps a touchdown, or for sure, incredible field position and an easy field goal for the Chicago Bear win.

That error gave the Broncos the ball back in overtime for a chance to win which they did with a Matt Prater 51 yard field goal!

It was one of the most thrilling exciting games I have ever seen. The before mentioned quarterback, had me off the couch and on my knees watching the improbable become probable leaving experts and fans sitting (Kneeling) in a kind of euphoric trance! How do you explain it?

Are there Angels in the Bronco backfield?

I want to go on record as a Pastor and a decidedly Denver Bronco Football fan to state that I don’t believe the Lord favors one team above another! In fact I think it’s important for  players who do pray, to pray not for victory, but for sportsmanship and good health to prevail for all involved!

Marion Barber, the veteran Chicago Bear running back that made the two critical errors, loves the Lord and tweeted after the game:

‘I WILL REMAIN....STILL IN PRAISE.... (PRAISE THE LORD! LET ALL THAT I AM PRAISE THE LORD......PSALMS 146:1 NLT).....HALLELUIAH’

Did the Lord will Denver to win and Chicago to lose? I don’t believe so.

I do believe that faith and hope and hard work and preparation and grit and determination can elevate a team, and for reasons that we can’t explain, move a fifty year old off a Wyoming couch onto his knees in anticipation of an outcome that for more than three quarters seemed out of reach!

Are there Angels in the Denver Bronco’s Backfield?

No, just men who believe along with their entire team, that nothing is over until it’s over!

What a wonderful reminder to the rest of us who perhaps this Christmas season are feeling like our life is in the 4th quarter and any chance of a victory be it emotional, financial or relational is too much to believe in.

If that’s you today, rest in this promise from Gods Word:

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.  (Hebrews 11: 6).
