Backpacks and the Lord Jesus Christ!

"And the King will answer them, 'I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for Me”. (Matthew 25: 40). Holman Christian Standard Bible

Life is hard. Moments, become hours and hours days, that often sap our strength, and leave us wanting, needing rest, or assurance that we are not alone.

We are not alone!

Life is meant to be shared, sufferings comforted….friendship offered. We need each other! Oh sure we have all read of hermits who hideaway in some out of the way spot, and dare anyone to trespass. Deep down I think they want someone in their yard…even for a moment to share life with someone other than themselves.

We need the Lord! Need is not even a strong enough word. Must have, is better and even then it simply will not offer the definition I need to point out, our desperate condition.

Life is hard, Life without Jesus, I can’t imagine it!

According to Matthew 25, our Lord Jesus Christ somehow, someway identifies with those who are struggling, those who find each sunrise a painful reminder that grueling hours of scraping and trying to live in a world that more often offers pain rather than purpose, are waiting.

That’s why the Lord Jesus Christ and tender caring hearts are so needed!

This August (Now) is the second annual back to school backpack drive at HillTop Baptist Church.  Last year the Lord enabled us to place 60 backpacks (Filled with school supplies) into area classrooms for kids who are finding life hard. This year our ministry team meant and decided to place 100 backpacks in the hands of kids!  As I am typing this (70 have been filled) I am so thankful for Church members and others in our community have stepped up to make a difference. Have they?

Read the following email written by a kind heart and decide:

Today I was told about a single mom that has 3 school age children.  All of the kids need school supplies, of course. I contacted the family to see if the church backpack ministry could provide backpacks for the kids.  Turns out the mom had gone shopping for supplies, but after everything was in the cart, did not know how she would pay for it as it was far more expensive than expected.  After a great deal of stress and deliberation, she chose to put everything back and wait until her mom could come to town and help out with the purchase of the supplies.  Due to various circumstances her mom has not been able to come and help.  Interestingly enough, we have backpacks filled and ready to go and meet the needs of this family.
The mom was very grateful and could see that God had worked out a wonderful blessing for her and the children. Thank you to all who have helped.  One family has already been blessed and relieved a great stress.

Relieved of great stress, blessed, encouraged ministered to!

I believe that when we care for children, and meet a need of a new backpack for school, it’s like giving Jesus a backpack!
